milk. definitely milk.

di yung powdered na hinaluan ng tubig ha? dapat sana yung naka-tetrapak or box. better kung gatas ng kalabaw. betterer kung galing mismo sa dodo ng cow. 😛

iba talaga ang kakaning pinoy ano?

at iba ang pagkaing pinoy. parang lahat pwedeng home-made. and almost everything is comforting. kahit pa lugaw lang. it’s ‘home-y’ food.

as i walked along katipunan after buying A’s medicine from the only drugstore in the area (the only one i know of), i passed by rustan’s supermarket. dumaan lang ako talaga para bumili ng dahon ng laurel (para sa mga niluluto kong ulam). nadagdagan ng gatas. at nadagdagan ng piaya. 😄

di ko natiis pagdating sa opisina. kinaialangang tikman. pero ngayon, di ko pa binubuksan yung gatas. sa bahay na lang itutuloy itong pagtutuos namin ng piaya.

and speaking of mga nilulutong ulam, i almost just cooked a part of me this morning. literally.

habang sina-sangkutsa ang karne, i grated the carrots and potatoes for my asadong kapampangan using a mandoline slicer. stupid me — i didn’t use the holder/finger protector. i was talking to myself in my head saying, “just one more pass and i’ll use the pro… AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!”

blood started dripping all over the table. still being the conscious cook, i managed to fish out grated bits of my thumb from the bowl of carrots and potatoes. it didn’t hurt that much probably because of the adrenalin. but it sure was difficult to take a bath this morning.

now, it’ just looks like this:

literally a dirty finger. but it’s mostly dried blood under the fingernail. i let the blood clot to speed up healing. 🙂

it still hurts whenever i type since i use the thumb in exactly the spot where i got cut to press the spacebar. imagine how many spaces and spacebar presses i did just writing this blog entry. it’s almost always met with an “ow!”

still, i consider today pretty OK. it’s better than most days, really. is it the weather again? siguro… iba talaga pag amoy pasko na. 🙂
