My first Sandy’s Pizza!

what to do in a rainy Thursday evening stuck in the office? order pizza of course! thanks to Car for treating us to Sandy’s Pizza!

it’s my first time, actually, to even know about it. ang alam ko lang eh yung mga common pizza places. pero buti na lang at nanlibre si Car dito and i got to sample three of their offerings: Margherita pizza, Carbonara, and their Tangy Buffalo Wings. Magpatuloy magbasa My first Sandy’s Pizza!

Save the Philippine Dragon Boat Team!

Please Help Save the Philippine Dragon Boat Team_32230374_4420879_o

this is just to share Ibyang’s post on the Philippine Dragon Boat Team, and Kurt’s (a paddler) open letter to our dear, dear President. (excuse the sarcasm. it couldn’t be helped.)

Dear President Benigno ‘Nonoy’ Aquino,

I would like to seek help from your office to give immediate attention and guidance to the current situation of the dragon boat sport in this country.

The Filipino dragon boat paddlers under the supervision of the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation or PDBF brought home numerous international awards in this sport, defending WORLD CHAMPIONS and WORLD RECORD HOLDER to name a few, yet the Philippine Sports Commission do not recognize the federation, stripped down all its rights as member of NSA without any clear or justifiable reasons, and created a separate dragon boat national team under the Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation or PCKF.

Current statistics show that PCKF has around 40-50 members only compared to PDBFs more than a thousand members. PDBF is the ONLY RECOGNIZED dragon boat association in the Philippines by the International Dragon Boat Federation or IDBF. From the latest letter of IDBF President to PDBF, only paddlers recognized by or members of PDBF will be allowed to race in local, regional, continental, and world dragon boat competitions for as long as it is governed or supervised by IDBF.

By stripping down the rights of PDBF from the NSA, PCKF will take over all of the existing rights and properties of PDBF including government funding to the WORLD CHAMPIONS, the Philippine Dragon Boat National Team.

And at the end of this month, PCKF will get ALL the dragon boats parked at Manila Bay and will make PDBF dragon boat paddlers unable to train for the upcoming competitions this September in Florida-USA for the World Championships and SAVA Sprints Singapore wherein FILIPINOS ARE THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS.

As a paddler, a public relations practitioner, and as a Filipino, I am asking for your utmost consideration to look at the current situation of the sport where we excel, and help save Philippine dragon boat from doom.

I hope that you can lend the federation your liberal ear to discuss this important matter with you and help our athletes defend their WORLD TITLE.

Respectfully yours,

Kurt Urbanozo
Member, Philippine Dragon Boat Federation

not sure what Kurt is talking about regarding “defending champions”? here’s a Youtube clip on their dilemma on TV Patrol:

why the politics? why the lack of funding? to some, it may not be as exciting as seeing Manny Pacquiao in the ring but it still is something that these brave hearts that bring home honor for the country, not just themselves! heck, if you think the Younghusbands are “hunky”, get a load of these bods:

all that hotness talent gone to waste if we don’t let them compete and not support them. come on Mr. President… show some support.

“but i packed my pyjamas!”

i think a whole lot of people were anticipating the lunar eclipse this morning. it’s just that not many were willing to do a ‘graveyard shift’ to view the moon turn red. besides, the eclipse happens on a weekday and we all had work that same morning. i had no intention of depriving myself of sleep so when we packed stuff for the overnight stay at the office, i brought my sleep wear with me.

got to the office around 11pm yesterday and mainly logged on to facebook and other stuff. was really sleepy that time already and i thought i’d prepare my “bed” inside the office. but i wanted to see how the Philippine Astronomical Society were setting up their equipment so i invited my officemate and her housemate to go to the roofdeck to check it out.

big mistake. why? because after that, i just couldn’t leave! the moon was so bright and enchanting that i was pretty sure it had some magical effect on me, specially because i had my guard down because i was getting sleepy.

Iridescent Clouds

Iridescent Clouds over Sto. Tomas, Pampanga.

I keep another blog, like most bloggers i know. 🙂 this one’s a bit ‘special’ because i try to chronicle stuff from my hometown. it’s getting filled little by little but traffic’s not coming in and only few ‘readers’ today. most, so far, download the stuff i have on (e.g. our town’s logo) but still, i’m happy i’m putting it on the net. hopefully, the posts will be useful in the future to other people.

as for the last post, i just thought i’d share it directly rather than rewriting the material. 🙂 click the link above for what i saw today in our town. maybe you’ve seen it in where you are and just didn’t know what it was! (pansin ko, madalas na ako mag-picture ng mga bagay sa langit ngayon. LOL)

panic panic panic! fun fun fun!

just a couple of days to go… and i’m panicking!!!

no invitations printed yet but the design’s pretty much done. all i need to do is print the pages and stuff them in envelopes and send them off to the guests!

got the inspiration (actually i decided to copy almost everything because i wasn’t in the mood for any creativity brainsqueezing) online but i just can’t remember where. 😛

having had some experience with GIMP, i put this together with some free fonts and free brushes from the internet.

the missalette’s done and will just require the approval of the parish priest. the Marriage License is being processed, i already have my confirmation and baptismal certificates. the seminar’s coming up after all of that.

we already had our pre-nup during a rainy rainy weekend (thankfully the storm didn’t head for land! Thank you Lord!) and have most of the preps down pat. but i can’t stop myself from thinking how close the day is and i feel like there’s still so much work that needs to be done!

i guess i just need to pull myself together and take it slow a little bit. get composed and put my mind into a calmer state.

breathe in. breathe out. relax…

biglaang lakad: The Chocolate Kiss Cafe

masaya pag nakatira ka sa may Katipunan Avenue. madaming pwedeng kainan… merong fastfood, merong mga ‘better than fastfood’ restaurants na di naman kamahalan. mga “OK lang” na kainan. wala pa naman yatang uber sosyal place dito bukod sa Cravings. i’ve only set food in the store once pero just to buy a cake for an officemate’s birthday pero yun lang. di pa ako kumakain dun!

still, kahit na may ganito sa Katipunan, dinadayo pa din namin ang Chocolate Kiss sa Bahay ng Alumni sa UP. ewan ko ba…

clouds 2

my officemate, julie, got all excited yesterday because of the colors that the sunset painted outside our office windows. we went to the roof deck and had a little photo session. the sky was blue and some of the clouds looming were gray but the ones being illuminated by the sun during that time were very pretty and orange!

but one cloud caught my attention though:

is it a duck or a dove? we didn’t debate anymore but it was really fun seeing this. 🙂
