once bitten, twice shy

i couldn’t find an appropriate song. but the proverb(?) says it all.

you take a chance. no, you *give* someone a chance. you think it’s perfect. only to end up disappointed again.

so from this day forward, i set this promise permanently: NEVER AGAIN. EVER.

now that i’m older, and wanted to write something relevant, at naging aware sa kung ano-anong kaartehan gaya ng Moleskine notebooks, gusto ko sana maka-iwan ng magandang impression man lang kahit sa pagsusulat ko. another inspiration ko kasi are the old hand-written letters and communications in the office archives.  nakaka-inggit!

Norton Common

that’ll be my band’s name. well, that’s according to this meme by OdH, a friend and fellow Rusher. 🙂 care to join in the meme? Here’s what you have to do:

1. Go to Wikipedia and click on “Random Article”. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2. Go to QuotationsPage and click on “Random Quotes”. The last few words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3. Go to http://www.flickr.com/explore/ and click on “Interesting photos from the last seven days”. The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. And in case you decide to post the final product, even if we’re just doing this for fun, don’t forget to acknowledge whoever owns the original image!

4. Use Photoshop to put it all together.

5. And voila, you’ve got you band’s CD album cover!

** – Go to Randomlinks or click http://www.randomwebsite.com/. The first ten links you end up in (minus the .com’s) are your 10 song titles.

my results:

photo by youngsol on Flickr. i sorta ‘cheated’ because the previous images i got weren’t allowed to be downloaded but this pic was the first that was allowed for download so i took it. 🙂

that was fun! hahaha…

i’m sorry but i don’t get this

again, RH bill is making the rounds in news even if there are hearings on corruption and the recent death of Angelo Reyes. i really just don’t like it when they start name-calling and say hurtful words against each other… it’s also sad how people who say these hurtful words have no comprehension on the basis of what the other is saying. naiinis ako kasi i can’t do any better explaning… it’s frustrating.

with that frustation, i ended up reading on the RH bill by Cong. Lagman (HB 96). and here’s what i don’t get: Sec 22. a. 3.

SEC. 22. Prohibited Acts. -The following acts are prohibited:

a) Any healthcare service provider, whether public or private, who shall:

3. Refuse to extend health care services and information on account of the person’s marital status, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, personal circumstances, or nature of work;  Provided, That, the conscientious objection of a healthcare service provider based on his/her ethical or  religious  beliefs shall be respected; however, the conscientious objector shall immediately refer the person seeking such care and services to another healthcare service provider within the same facility or one which is conveniently accessible;

This is the part I don’t get… you are allowed to object and refuse a person access to something you are against (by faith or ethics) and yet are required to hand him/her off to the next person whom you know will give what that person wants even if you are against it! how twisted can you get?

i find it similar to corruption. a client approaches you asking how you could get kick-back from this project of the government. but you are against corruption (by faith or ethics). and yet you are required to ask your seatmate at the office who’s fine with corruption in the government to help a client get a kick-back!

how will your conscience survive?

valentine’s day was invented for women

it’s either the entrepreneur was a woman herself or he had female friends and saw a business opportunity while making her friends happy.

think about it. who benefits from celebrating V-day? women get flowers, chocolates, jewelry, presents, etc. (or they expect to be given one or all of them). businesses who sell these products profit bigtime because they get to ‘up’ the prices sky high!

men get nothing. except perhaps the lovey-dovey puss-in-boots eyes and words like “i love you too” or “thank you so much” or “you make me feel so special”… bonus points if you get a peck on the cheek or a smack. extra pogi points if you’re Phil Younghusbands and make panties drop just by saying “hi” to random women. 😛 haha…

why does V-day seem like a one-way thing? or is it just me? if men had control over V-day, women would be making hobby and tech stores happy. no need for a dinner date — a new DSLR or cellphone or iPod would do. that shiny RC (remote controlled) car/helicopter is fine, too. or a new Magic card. you’ll get our “thank you”s and “you’re so sweet” and “i love you too” replies as well. that’s a promise. 😀

tuesday. gah!

i think i’ve said it before. tuesday is the oddest day of the week. it’s the most boring and lifeless day of the week. i could say that it’s the “rudolph” without the red nose. it’s an outcast without any redemptive characteristic — unlike many outcasts in fairy tales. the ugly duckling was a swan. rudolph had a shiny nose. even the evil witches had magic to redeem themselves for them to be able to do whatever they wish. but tuesday is just “blah”. it’s just there, wasting space on the calendar, wasting hours of work because no one can accomplish anything because we’re too excited about the weekend so we bore ourselves to death by not working (or not getting ourselves motivated to work at all) even if there’s tons to do.

mondays are remembered because it’s the day we start our slavery. i think it’s the most hated day of the week and that’s why we remember it. wednesday has a monicker — hump day! the day that you just have to inch your way through gently or as fast as you can. thursday is “almost there” day… you start planning your weekend, where to go, what movie to watch (since we change movies on thursdays), what to cook for the weekend, etc. friday is already the end of the week for most. it’s the “best day of the week”. saturday is “gimik” day and sunday is R&R-slash-family day. tuesday is irrelevant.

shouldn’t we just declare tuesday a regular holiday? para naman may role siya sa buhay naten. wala lang.

and, yes, it’s a tuesday today in case you’re wondering…

zombadings!!!

ewan ko ba. di naman talaga ako mahilig sa horror movies. i never liked being scared in my seat in cinemas but so far, two of the latest movies i want to watch are sort of horror/suspense related.

first, The Rite starring Anthony Hopkins. i’ve loved him in Silence of the Lambs and he is such a powerful actor. ewan ko ba. mahirap i-describe… parang nahi-hypnotize ka niya eh. anyway, the story is there is supposedly an increasing demand for exorcists around the world. The Vatican called on all the different countries to send students for training. grabe yung portrayal nila ng classroom sa Vatican. it’s a kick-a$$ room with interactive touchscreens!

one person sent was deacon michael. he was a skeptic about exorcism because he lost his faith and is sent to fr. lucas (hopkins), an experienced exorcist and fr. lucas guides him into actual exorcisms.

and the second movie is… ZOMBADINGS!!! subtitled “patayin sa shokot si remington” hahaha… i mean how can you take this as a serious horror movie? even the trailer is hilarious!

diba diba diba? anyway, bukod sa Tangled, these are the next movies on my list… ang tanong lang: magkaka-pera ba ako soon para makapanood? ahehe…
